My last post in 2015 signified that i was putting down the camera. This was because I had been rewarded with another beautiful baby daughter! so for the past 7 years i have devoted more time to family and less to photography.
Now that my daughter Fiona is turning 6 its time to pick back up the camera. A lot has changed, new baby, new home, new main job. So here I go again. Aim High, Fly-Fight-Win!

Out in Austin with the "hipsters" and "hippies" is a wonderful stop called Jack Allen's Kitchen, where everything is locally sourced and superbly prepared! I got to stop in and have a chat with
owner Jack Gilmore and executive chef Rogelio Lujano about how they kept their little part of Austin weird! The secret: keep it fresh! Tucked away in Houston's Midtown Area at the corner of Louisiana and Elgin is a delightful peace of Louisiana comfort foods. Chef Holley has created a wonderful Menu that is a spectacle for the eyes and mouth. His jumbo lump crab cakes are divine!
In Galveston there is a tucked away spot that you will drive right by if you are not careful.
If you can find it STOP! The scenes are beautiful looking out over the bay and the Fish Tacos are amazing! If you are looking for something more formal try the Lobster! Also dont forget to satisfy your sweet tooth by trying some of their Lemon Meringue! its to die for i took the one you see home it was so amazing! Tucked away in Dallas in the Oak Cliff area where such names as Stevie Ray Vaughan and T-Bone Walker got their start, and just down the road from where Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested is a wonderful restaurant named Boulevardier. Its seating capacity may be small but it packs quite a punch. Its known for its Oysters, but that is not the only thing to go there for. While there, I got to see and taste a wonderful assortment of their menu. One of the best things I tasted was the Hanger Steak Fries! Take my word for it. Go there and taste it for yourself. While your there be sure to say hi to Chef Nathan Tate. Dont forget to try out their Nancy's Bread Pudding. The recipe is in this issue of Prime Living Magazine.
Down in the oldest suburb of Houston, mixed in with the antique shops and hipster hangouts, is a small piece of shade serving up tasty cocktails and wonderful meals. If you are looking for a Sunday brunch or a afternoon meal Shade offers an assortment of tastes to satisfy your cravings. The Challah French Toast can satisfy your sweet tooth no problem. Tie that in with one of their Bloody Marys and your last Friday night can just be another forgotten blur! If you are looking for just a quick snack try their Mediterranean Plate with hummus and toasted pita bread with veggies and Kalamata olives. No matter what you pick from the menu chef Greg Beebe will make sure you don't walk away unhappy!Check out the menu on their website @ http://www.shadeandcanopy.com/Shade/ 250 West 19th Street, Houston Texas 77008 So a lot of times you get what you pay for in this world. However I have recently discovered and item that as a photographer that is still building their equipment collection has been worth its weight in gold! Opteka makes a Macro attachment that connects to your lens and turns your standard lens in to a macro lens! Now most of the time when you buy an item such as this it does not preform well if at all. However this one has proven its self to me. see the following pictures for the results that we have received out of this useful tool! all images were shot using a 50mm 1.8 lens One of the coolest things about my job is the face that I get to taste so many of the wonderful creations that I take pictures of. Thanks to Prime Livings Website so can you. Each chef generously gives 1 recipe for an item or drink that they enjoy. for example Susi Zivanovic- Corporate sommelier for Perry's Steak House enjoys Perry's Classic Sidecar. She even was kind enough to create a video on how to make it. Ever wanted to try your hand at some Tres Leches? Let the wonderful Chefs at Churrascos teach you how! For today I will leave you with one last wonderful recipe. Rabbit Tenderloin. and let me tell you.. I watched this get made from scratch in 30 Min. ( got the pics to prove it!!) Many of you may not know that I am the official food photographer for Prime Living Magazine here in Texas. I have been shooting for them coming up 1 year this January and i have got to shoot some amazing things for them. I have meet many cool chefs and people along the way.
